The astromech unit named Q9-X2 was just like anyother astromech but over the years he became dissatisifed with himself. He began to modifie himself, he added a unit to make him talk, and a repulsorlift unit to float on. The main reason for the droids unsuall behavior was his highly advanced personality matrix that was installed in the experimental Q9 series from Industrial Automaton.

The Q9 series was based on the R7 series and was designed for versatility and also featured supieror analytical and data access skills. This complexity was the Q9`s undoing thought, it resulted in system failures and costly repairs when the droid was subject to extended stress. Q9-X2 was one of the experimentaly droids and he voices his advanced option that traditional astromechs are ill-prepared for life outside the flight hanger. After Q9-X2 fited himself with low-power repulsor pads he could hover above obstacles, then he installed a vocoder so he could speak basic, but Q9-X2 still felt that these modifications were still not radical enough.

Next Q9-X2 added a sophisticated detection package, that included a molecular backtrack sniffer, a residual heat-trend directionalizer, and retractable sensor wands. The droid next followed up with a powerful foward-mounted floodlight and two additional lamps that folded into either side of his cylindrical chasis. On a whim, Q9-X2 fitted himself with a high-tech photography system into his front section, reasioning that his holographic projector was a blurry, grainy way to capture images. His new system has a telephoto lens and is capable of surpisingly detailed resolution, and the pictures are dispensed through a narrow printout slot. Inaddtion to Q9-X2`s modifications he is also equipped with the standard "factory-installed" astromech equipment that is offered by Industrial Automaton, which includes: a retractable grasper arm, an arc welder, a fire extingisher, and more. Even with all this the droid still doesn`t consider himself fully developed yet.

The droid is currently owened by Ebrihim the Drall, who purchased the droid for 1,250 Drallish crowns at a used-tech market, and he so far has not regreted his decision, even though the droid does test his patience. This little droid can be insolent, head-strong, egotistical, temperamental, and oblivious, but his data base retrieval skills have proved inaluable in Ebrihim`s profession as a tutor.
