The Industrial Automation & Genetech 2-1B surgical droid might be the most advanced surgical droid on the market but the MD series is the most common droid. It was introduced decades ago, the orginal Emdees are still in widespread use, and new models and units are produced every day on the factory moon of Telti.
The MD unit has the same design as the 2-1B droid which isn`t surprising due to the fact that both units are manufactured by Industrial Automation. Smaller repulsorlift-driven variants of the MD-5`s are used aboard cramped voyages where space is at a presmium. Industrial Automation hasn`t let their distinguished MD line die off. MD-6`s were built exclusively for the Empire. MD-7`s are experts in emergency trauma, and two successive models were sold only as prototypes in limited sectors. MD-10`s were introduced only recently, but are looking to be a breakout success.
Each MD-10 are specialist in a particular field such as cardiology, neurology, obstetrics, or dentistry and by this Industrial Automation has ensured the success of there MD line with it becoming into niche practices.
